DIY Lavender Almond Bath Melts

I found this cool recipe for making bath melts by Victoria of

INGREDIENTS FOR LAVENDER BATH MELTS

  • 1 cup shea butter or cocoa butter

  • 1 tbsp lavender infused almond oil (you can sub the lavender almond oil with another infused or distilled oil or simply use regular almond oil or coconut oil)

  • 20 drops lavender essential oil (our farm distilled lavender essential oil is available from our online store)

  • Optional: lavender buds (also available on our store!)

  • Silicone mold

A few notes: Shea butter and cocoa butter are interchangeable in this recipe. You can use half a cup of shea butter and half a cup of cocoa butter, or simply use all of one kind. You can also sub for mango butter if you don’t like the scent of shea or cocoa butter, but it will yield less bath melts.

HOW TO MAKE LAVENDER BATH MELTS

To make your own lavender infused almond oil: Add lavender buds and almond oil to a jar and allow to infuse for at least 3 weeks, or do a heat infusion by creating a double boiler and letting the mixture simmer for a few hours.

1. In a double boiler, melt shea butter (or cocoa butter) and lavender infused almond oil. Let the mixture melt down on medium heat.

2. Remove from heat and allow to cool for a few minutes. Once everything is fully melted, remove from the heat and allow to cool for a few minutes before adding the essential oil. Don’t worry, it’s not going to solidify anytime soon.

3. Add lavender essential oil. When the mixture is no longer piping hot, add up to 20 drops of lavender essential oil and mix well.

4. Pour mixture into silicone mold. You can now pour the mixture into your silicone mold tray and allow to cool and solidify.

5. Allow to cool a bit, then add lavender petals. You can stick them in the fridge to speed up the process a bit, but it can take a while depending on the size of your molds. If you want to add a little sprinkle of lavender petals, do so once it’s started to solidify. Don’t go overboard, or you’ll be cleaning petals out of your tub for a while.

6. Let the bath melts fully cool, then pop out and enjoy! Once they’re fully cooled, you can pop them out
