Beekeepers Beware of Wasps!

I found this huge wasp nest in our hardwood bush. I find the swirls of layered paper so interesting, however wasps are deadly to bees and hive wellness.

Although this nest is dormant, with likely the Queen the only survivor, it has to go. I’ve spotted 5 wasp nests out on the property this week. All will be removed and burned so the queens can’t start rebuilding their population.

Some nature advocates would say this is unfair or not natural however, our beehives will more than make up for the loss of wasp pollinators. As a land steward I do struggle with this. But I’m also a business person. Your thoughts ?
